After your treatment
An effective Reflexology or Indian Head Massage treatment should:
Boost your circulation
Release toxins into your body systems
Balance your energy and emotional systems
Boost your digestive system
Assist your immune system
Therefore, in the 12 hours after treatment, you should try to:
Relax - save any new found energy for the healing processes that may require it
Drink plenty of water or herbal tea
Eat lightly and avoid alcohol and caffeine
Despite all the benefits of Reflexology and Indian Head Massage, several side-effects are possible. We call this a ‘healing response’, and it’s nothing to worry about.
These include:
Tiredness / headache / dizziness
Excess urination / flatulence
Emotional swings
Increased perspiration
A temporary worsening of the symptoms of medical conditions - this is a part of the healing process and will be short-lived
All of our treatments will also have served to move energy around your body. As such, a ‘healing response’ is similarly expected. Personally, I always experience headaches the day after. You may find that the relaxation you hopefully feel is mixed up with expectations, emotions and questions of 'what next?' . So, for the days after your treatment I recommend to:
Drink plenty of water or herbal tea
Allow time for rest - easier said than done, I know!
Eat lightly and avoid alcohol and caffeine
Be gentle with yourself - allow your emotions to flow
Take time to notice how you are and be patient with all that emerges - try writing things down as they come up if you like. Nobody else has to read it.
Be open to asking questions and being curious about the process - try to remain neutral about your reactions, zero self-judgement!
